These rotogravure (images engraved on a cylinder used to print onto paper) cards may have been the first American set of prehistoric cards published as teaching aids.
 
This booklet that contained the paper cards was published August 15, 1917 (Serial No. 137, Vol. 5, No. 13). The text was written by William Diller Matthew of American Museum of Natural History.
