This 'Tiere der Urwelt Sales Folio' is a foldout packet with a tie closure containing a mixture of Reichardt thin paper lithographs which were distributed as premiums with Reichardt cocoa products. The lithographs appear to be originals from the three Reichardt series outlined below and include random samples of lithographs in quantities of one or two each. The origin and purpose of this folio is uncertain. There are a couple of working theories:
 
The first theory is the folio is some sort of salesmen's 'sampler', perhaps for use (a) as a marketing/advertising tool to generate interest in the Reichardt Series 3 lithographs which were issued in 1910 and/or Tiere de Urweld series in general or (b) as a method of distributing back inventory of previous series.
 
The second theory is that Reichardt issued this folio as a 'generic' folder for storing their lithographs (Tiere der Urwelt specifically) regardless of series identification. If true, then there is little significance of the series found in the folio (e.g., the lithographs are a random collection by a previous owner of the folio that just happened to include series 1a, 2, and 2a lithographs).
