Return to The Dinosaur Fan home page
Nature on the Rampage! is a 'bare bones' listing of fiction novels with themes involving modern man’s survival in environments inhabited by ravenous prehistoric animals (e.g., dinosaurs, extinct mammals), vicious mutant creatures, and brutal primal man. The purpose of this webpage is to provide a list of the books I have found so far with themes that fit into “Nature on The Rampage!” storylines. I have provided basic book identification information, my personal rating of the book, and an excerpt to ‘wet your appetite’.

"Individual science fiction stories may seem as trivial as ever to the blinder critics and philosophers of today, but the core of science fiction -- its essence -- has become crucial to our salvation, if we are to be saved at all."
Isaac Asimov

My Book Review/Opinion:

5 Scars!
5 Scars
An absolute must-read page-turner, filled with creatures, suspense, creatures, peril, creatures, solid characters, creatures, and everything else a Nature on the Rampage! reader expects. This book is so good; you'll buy the hard cover edition and then later purchase the paperback version as an excuse to read it again!

Great book with a super story line, plenty of suspense, creatures, solid characters, and most everything else a Nature on the Rampage! reader expects. This book should be at the top of your read list and worth the extra cash to purchase the hard cover edition just so you can be one of the first to read it.

Good book with a solid story line. May indeed be a very well written book but creature content may be relegated to a sub-theme or the story is a tad too farfetched. Look for a used hard cover edition or wait until the paperback edition is published.
2 Scars

2-1/2 Scars!
2-1/2 Scars
Simply an "OK" book. Has something to do with the "Nature on the Rampage!" theme but the "man-vs.-creature" elements are relegated to a subplot or the storyline is just too farfetched to maintain the reader's interest. Look for a used paperback edition.

Not a book to bring up at cocktail parties or at book readings. Someone forgot the rampaging nature! Unless you are a relative of the author or suffer from severe insomnia, don't bother! Try to get a free copy of this book.

Skip this one unless you are married to the author in which case you are on your own! Give away your copy of the book with a letter of apology to the recipient.

Not Reviewed
I have not personally read this book and therefore cannot review/rate it. Inclusion in this list is based on on-line plot descriptions (e.g., Amazon, Wikipedia) and/or The Dinosaur Fan site visitor recommendations.

"Remember, science fiction's always been the kind of first level alert to think about things to come. It's easier for an audience to take warnings from sci-fi without feeling that we're preaching to them. Every science fiction movie I have ever seen, any one that's worth its weight in celluloid, warns us about things that ultimately come true."
Steven Spielberg
